Equipment
- 2 quart non-reactive juice container
- Juicer
- Whisk
- Pot
- Measuring cups
Ingredients
- 3/4 C Lime juice
- 1/2 C Granulated sugar
- 2 qt Water
Instructions
Prep
- Roll the ripe limes a bit to loosen its juices. Then juice the limes and set aside 3/4C of the juice.
Simple Syrup
- In a saucepan, add 1C water and 1C sugar. Turn on the heat and stir. Bring up to a small simmer and as soon as the bubbles start to show, turn off the neat and keep stirring. You will know it is ready when all the sugar is dissolved and the water looks clear. Take off the heat and let it cool.
Limeade
- Fill up a non-reactive (glass) container with 2 quarts water.
- Add the lime juice.
- Add the simple syrup only when it has achieved room temperature. (We do not want to cook the lime juice, or crack the glass.)
- Stir well.
Notes
What to do with all the limes my lime bush makes? Make Limeade of course.
Variations: add or reduce the amount of sugar, use alternative sugars, add a small pinch of salt to bring out more lime, or add bubble water to make a lime soda,
